Watercolor Pencils

Finally got some good watercolor pencils. A set of Faber Castells. They’re quite nice. I’ve been toying with them a bit, and still getting used to their softness. Using them to work out some sketches for my sister’s new tattoo, and just adding color to some quick sketches. A couple of samples and of course a link to this week’s gallery here.

  1. WOW!! Marco you have out done yourself. That is a beautiful picture. If he were to turn around it would be your Dad! What a great Fathers Day present. Your work just gets better ,and better. Love the watercolor pencils.

  2. Interesting to hear your thoughts on Faber castell watercolour pencils, I thinking of buying some new ones and I was leaning towards Derwent but I might give these a go. the John Cleese portrait is really good!

    • the derwent pencils are really nice, but the faber castells seemed like a better overall pick. they’re just so bright, and extremely light-fast, and they mix well with even the smallest amount of water. they work great with a water brush! perfect for on the go sketching!

  3. I think this came out great! I had so much trouble with watercolor pencils that I laid them down, but you are doing wonderful things with them. I looked at this drawing and I said, “Is that John Cleese?” Only then did I see the name – so you got ‘im!
