Another Model Marathon

This past Sunday I spent some time at Hipbone Studios for their 25th anniversary celebration. It was kicked off with a 9 hour figure drawing session and finished with stories about the origin of Hipbone Studios, live music by an amazing cellist, food and drink, and lively conversation with some new friends. I had a great time drawing and painting all day. I stuck with mostly pencil and watercolor with a little pen thrown in. The only drawback with watercolor and my style in particular is the drying time between layers. I like to layer very thin spots of paint and there just isn’t enough time to get in enough layers for me to really build up the darks. I plan on going back into the watercolors a bit just to strengthen the tonal range. What do you think? Is it worth going back in, or should I leave them as is? I really feel like it was a successful and fun day of painting and drawing and was well worth the time!
